With the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disbanding Pakistani players from participating at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2009, Delhi Daredevils owned by GMR will be missing the services of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif. Asif’s loss can be crucial since the McGrath-Asif combo at the top of the bowling lineup proved to be a tough pair to get away with in the inaugural edition of the League, thanks to their emphasis on sticking to a nagging line and length. The Aussie-Paki opening combo actually proved to be a perfect foil to the blistering opening combination at the top of the batting order in the form of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag.
