Gautam Gambhir teamed up with Virender Sehwag for Delhi Daredevils ownd by GMR in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to make opposition attacks bite dust. The regular Delhi and Team India left and right opening duo, however, could not propel their IPL team to the title clash.
 
In 2009, once again, Delhi Daredevils will look forward to the services of Gambhir and Sehwag to provide them the necessary momentum at the top of the order. This year though, the team will miss the services of young Delhi batsman Shikhar Dhawan who carried on the the good work to the middle overs in the previous edition of the League. Dhawan, incidentally, has been exchanged for speedstar Asish Nehra with Mumbai Indians.
